Hi, i have just purchased a 2.0ltr a/c automatic t25.
the story so far........
was driving fine but the owner thought it was a bit sluggish so got hold of another engine and took it to his mates (miles away) to get it fitted, basically the old engine was removed, and then it sat for about 10 months with the gearbox strapped up and no work being done, so he then got a local guy to go and collect the van and bring it back here and fit the engine. Job done, engine fitted but now there is no drive in any gear! the owner got peed off with it and sold the van to me.
I have today removed the gearbox in the hope that the torque converter would have no oil in it and all i would need to do would be to fill it up and job done, unfortunatly the torque converter is full of fluid so thats not the problem i wass hoping for. Does anyone have any ideas what could be the matter.....with the gbox on the floor, in the "park" position on the selector you can spin the drive flanges in oposite directions but not the same way, in all other positions you can turn the drive flanges the same way (although not easy to do) when doing this the center shaft in the gbox rotates (the one in the middle of the big shaft, pump shaft possibly?) when i fit the torque converter and spin that on the box with the selector in any position whatsoever the flanges arnt moving at all!!! is this normal?
if anyone has any sugestions/tests to carry out ect then i would really appreciate the help, this is my first ezperiance of gbox removal so am possibly a little nieave.

oh, ment to add aswell, the box is well overfilled with atf its half way up the dipstick!!! the guy who fitted engine told me he had overfilled it to try and get oil into the torque converter as he thought that was the problem!
also in my haynes manual it says when fitting the torque convertor it should be 10mm(2.5in) off the mating face of the bell housing, when i put it on i reckon there is only 3mm clearance!

"I carnt help you to much but"I fitted a torque convertor from memory the pump drive shaft has moved forward out of engagement.The Haynes manual explains this page 147 fig 6.11.

thanks, the pump driveshaft seems to be in as far as it goes, it is flush with the end of the splined shaft it fits into?

Pull out the pump rod &wiggle it back in it shows the wrong position in the haynes manual on fig 6.11 page 147 .

i have just been out for another look, i am sure the shaft is in all the way, it stops when it is sticking out approx 2inch past the big splined shaft, then with a wiggle it goes in another inch or so then you can push it in untill it is flush with the end of the big splined shaft.
