Rubbing/squeeking front brakes

Post by pouch »

Help,

I have changed the brake pads about 1500 miles ago. Since then I am getting a squeeking noise after a short while into the journey. Sometimes it goes, sometimes it comes back. I have removed the pads and reset them again. but it's not made any difference.
The pads do not squeal when I apply the brakes at all.

The wheel is still turning quite freely, but it is really annoying.

When I re-sat the pads I checked the shim orientation and also cleaned up the shims which were quite corroded in some places, I wonder if the corrosion mean the shims are not fitting exactly flat?
Could I remove the shimns from that caliper and see if it makes any difference??

Any thoughts apreciated... Its driving me nuts...
when I'm driving it keeps making me worry I am sapping all of that huge engine power

Rub some ointment (brake grease) on the back of the old girls pads, should stop it
