Rusty Bolts

Attempting removal of water pump. First hurdle rusty bolts!!! Tried WD40 any other suggestions?

be very careful and not too much force, try to heat the bolt up and shock it loose.

Before. OOOpppppssss. I think i'm going to have to get an extractor for that one!! I can still see it just inside the start of the thread.

wd is pretty rubbish for what you used it for.you should of used plusgas for a couple of days before attempting to loosen the nuts.still bit late now...

Yeh I'm game. My neighbour just suggested coke a cola!! Shame I dont have a big pit to just chuck it in and let it sit over night.

your neighour is not as stupid as you look. (sorry, i am only joking). actually coca cola contains phosphoric acid which eats rust, so theoretically it may help. i suggest you try to get a picture up on here and we can offer opinions on how to help you further.

We have poured coke over bolt head. The 1 thats snapped is about 5 mm inside, would a halfwits bolt extractor do?

And as mentioned above, for several days before starting a job, get busy spraying studs etc with Plusgas or something else decent (not wd40).

yea nk even a bit of derv or petrol in a spray bottle is better in my opinion.
