1.6 TD JX oil feed line leak problem- Help

Post by Mayor Goldie Wilson »

Hello,
I have found where my oil leak is coming from but dont know how to stop it!

I have a braided hose line for my oil feed line (from oil filter to turbo).

The hose is sound as no oil evident on hose.
Now i have taken all tin from under the engine off i can see that the oil is leaking from where the oil feed pipe threads onto the union on the turbo. Just to emphasise that the leak is not from the hose but from the thread.
please refer to dodgy indication below as you look at the connection from top to bottom.

threadthreadthread --------------------this is the point where the oil comes from.

I have tightened it up as much as possible. Do i need to replace:
a) the hose ( i have fully removed it and swapped ends and still it is the turbo end that leaks)
b) the union? where can i get one?
c) sorry i am not replacing the turbo!!!!

What size spanner do i use to remove the union?
Will i breaking any seal by removing the union from the turbo or can i just screw a new one in?

Sorry for all the drivel.
Any helpful suggestions will be rewarded with textual gratitude.

PS this forum has kept me on the road for the last 4 trips! its great!
i will be mayor!

I would undo the place where the leak is and apply some ptfe. That might fix it.....

i am replying to my own question just in case someone has the same problem and has found this thread!!!

Oil on the tailgate was getting annoying.
I took off all the tin ware and found a leak on the turbo oil feed line, turned out it was the union that the hose connects to then to the turbo.

The union seat had cracked - oh dear!

A replacement union was not possible to get even though well meaning freind removed one from a turbo he had - it did not fit.

SO - i went to pirtek hoses they made me a new union formed of three pieces to get it from the turbo female thread to the hose.

Fitted and tested - no oil - yippee!
