late DG exhaust on an early DG engine?

Post by mfunsta »

..have read up and
before I confirm to my friend that this is a definite goer..
..I understand the differences are the rear mounting bracket, more difficult access to the thermostat and no preheater to the air filter (not required)
am I right in my assumptions? :?
cheers

Sort of...
late system will fit.. the correct DG front pipe does have a preheat on it, but the 2.1 front pipe can be used that doesnt have a preheat..
Not sure how tight the exhaust will be against the thermostat housing though...

Rear engine mount is different and you need the brackets to mount the silencer also... this starts to make it more costly and a lot more hassle...

Early systems are still available.. and cheaper....

OK... confused again..
..now I understand that an Aircooled exhaust will also (minus the exchangers of course) fit the early watercooled DGs :?
this so?

Now why would you want to do that ?

Just buy the early 1.9 system, that's straight on your WBX engine, available from GSF,JK etc etc just don't go to "pooh"-Fit FFS.

The 2.00ltr Aircooled silencer (silencer only)is the same silencer as the early 1.9dg exhaust system

As said.. the early DG silencer is the same as the 2L Aircooled... but the pipes are not...

Yep.. GSF or Just Kampers... JK do a "bundle kit" for a little bit better price...
