Campsites on the Devon and east Dorest coast

Post by T'Onion »

Ok we're off to do the Jurassic Coast line in the summer and I was just wondering if anyone had any good (cheap if thats possible) campsites that they have stayed at on the coast line between Exmouth and Swanage.

Thanks

Stayed at this one two weeks ago and loved it.

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/resul ... y=sitename" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's near Kimmeridge Bay, West of swanage and East of Lulworth cove. Bit basic, taps and toilets, no showers. Lots of space, fires allowed and the farmer brings round bags of logs to buy.

Located in a lovely valley about 5 mins drive from the sea front. Plenty of good walks if you like that sort of thing.

We paid £5 per person per night. No silly extra charges for awnings etc. They don't take bookings but never get busy enough to worry about it as they have about five big fields.

Weve stayed here a few times. http://www.herstonleisure.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Really close to a nice steam train that runs to Swanage and Corfe, which is great if you have kids or just want a drink etc.

Nice on site facilities too

This one is a bit more basic, but lovely (and cheap) with a choice of woodland or grassland to camp in.

Just been to this one near Blandford Forum for a couple of nights. Reasonably priced, spotless toilets and set in what must have been parkland for some Stately Home, now presumably demolished as I never saw it. There are acres and acres of woodland around the place and they give you a sheet with a choice of several walks. There is a very large kids play area there.

Cummins Farm, Pen Cross just outside Lyme Regis.

I'll try & get you better info if you want somewhere round there; It's some remote family of my Mothers' I think.
Very basic camp site; there is hook up, and shower blocks and it's about 1 or 2 miles from Lyme Regis town. We stayed there last year on our way home from 8 months in Spain and it's a good base for the area. Local bus drivers will stop there if you ask them nicely when you get on the bus
:ok
Andi
(would also make a good "meet" field in the area...
What a long strange trip it's been

The Camping & Caravanning Club site at Corfe is great. Clean loos and plenty of opportunities for walking. You can walk into the village and visit the castle of catch the steam railway into Swanage. I went there last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Corfe has several pubs with a good choice of local beers.
