Marvellous ! Agreed the seats let down the otherwise rather nice brown interior. But a genuine RHD 16" is very special.

Yes, it's rare, but it's basically a heavy duty syncro, a syncro made more betterer!
But, it won't be cheap, it will get restored probaly then it will never get used as intended as it'll be too valuable.
No one will dare take it away from stock as it will de-value it.
So, yeah, nice but ultimatley useless.

Seconded, Lloydie. I reckon there must be 100 times as many vans that get used regularly, as there are show specials. Having said that, I reckon the Aircooled scene is very different, most of those really are show-only vans. In contrast the T3 scene is much more healthy.

PS. What job is that ? I fancy a career change.

The only thing that gets me about this van is why it was built in Germany?

Im sure i read somewhere about VW South Africa not building Syncro Doka's, but they did build caravelles etc in Syncro didnt they?

Why wouldn't they have had the van built by VW SA in their RHD factory and then driven across the border into Botswana? Gotta make more sense than shipping from Germany!
Or did they not build 16" in SA?

Its got A 1.6TD in it too, coudlve had a 2.5 something or other from the SA factory....petrol i know...but still.....

Sanctions?
£6/7K is that un-useable? £12k (with refurb?) Is a 3 year old BMW un-useable? Too valuable?
No, still very usable & a great motor.

Think I'll have more luck with the German.................

original VW syncro 16 duties (253-299) as a legal driver, with it a real rarity built for Botswana, never there been delivered, has stood till 1995 in VW in the letter 2 holder registrations, in my possession since 1998, since 11.4.2005 has cancelled, before notice of departure of new TÜV/MEADOW without objections, since 3x with red number for 20 kms in each case driven, garage cars all together 10 years run, of it only 3 winters very good state with regard to rust, no accident, rear-axle barrier interior equipment with multivan seats in front, sleeping bank and cupboard installation, upholsterer are encumbered cleansing-destitute with new feathers / with shock absorber with Bernd Jäger, with 100,000 kms new dental strap new LM other pictures with pleasure after inquiry, inspection in Bremen city center sales in lover against order.

Quite right. I would love to get my hand's on that. 16's are ace.

I thought Russell said that VW ZA did not build any syncro's.

Just a special order RHD syncro.

V-Lux, all Syncro's we're built in Graz, Austria (after the bodyshells were made in Hannover), with the exception of ten built in ZA by Gordon Craig's dad who worked for VW of ZA, and brought in the parts to ZA when the main production ended in 1992 in Austria.

PS. I was reminded of this yesterday by Aidan, but I had heard this in 2005 when we encountered Gordon at the 20th. anniversary bash.
