Been looking at the caravanstore awnings. The model in the bag rather than a metal case.
Anyone have one of these fitted to a pop top van?
Do they fit?
Do you need the expensive bracket (£50) ?
Kind of hoping to find a way of using awning rail to fasten above the guttering on the van and leave the awning there permanantly....
Had a look on wiki , but it seems to focus on the metal case version and they are lots of dollar for a new one!

Yeah, the Caravanstore fixes onto the side of the van by sliding it into an awning rail, rather than using any brackets. As long as you've got space to fit some rail you'll be ok. Use sikaflex or tiger seal to stick the awning rail on with.

Rich, I could do with a pic if you wouldn't mind. I'm thinking of this on mine. Have you done it Tony? Is this idea any good?

I used Sikaflex to stick awning rail onto the side of our hi-top. Haven't done it on a pop-top though.

I didn't read the posting properly
Mine's a high top so it's same as yours. I would have thought it would need self tapping screws into the top! Silkaflex sounds a less invasive solution. Thanks Tony.
You're a mine of info. Now, about the welding I need doing around my windows.............

Use screws to fix it, and sikaflex to seal it.
I used marked the screw holes, then drilled small (2mm) pilot holes.
Then apply bead of sikaflex to back of rail, offer it up and fix with screws.
Sealant oozes out a bit and creates a good seal.
Also worth filing off sharp leading edge of awning rail, to save abrading the awning case when you slide it on.
