take a look at my leak...

Post by faceache »

hi guys & gals.

i'm new the T25 world and i'm going round my van assessing what bits and pieces i need to do (more questions soon!!)...

i'm getting water in the driver's footwell (possibly passengers - but it hasn't rained really hard since i got me van).

I've had a search through the forum and it seems it's usually the windscreen seal or the washer/wipers.

I've traced the leak and it looks like it's coming in from the windscreen inbetween where the wiper and washer is? or maybe its running along and down from the wiper? have a look at the pic and tell me what you think. I guess my first action should be to put sealant around the washer/wipers - what sealant is best to use for this?

And if that doesn't work i guess im popping the windscreen out (treating any rust) and replacing the seal? :roll:

Provided you don't have any obvious rusted areas is safe to say the screen/rubber will be allowing water to enter your vehicle.

This is the sort of stuff you will be needing to help with your problem,
http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8110" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But only seal the corners as this is the most likely place the water will be entering.

Clean off excess with a general de-greaser, not any slovent based liquid as it will remove the paint.

Silicone based sealer are not suitable for this type of job.
