fitting a starter motor on 1.6 diesel

Had a proplem with starter while on holiday, managed to persuade it with 2.5lb hammer, is a new one easy to fit by a keen amatuer or do i need machanic in, is there some where you recomend in Leicester to get one. Much appriciate. Gav

piece of pee to do...disconnect battery....get a 19mm spanner on the two bolts that bolt it to the bell housing and remove.push the clutch slave out the way and slide it back and lift it out when its clear, rest it on engine somewhere and swap all the wires.then reverse the procedure :ok
the word 'pissing' is safe

remove rear offside wheel for easier access :ok

There should be a 13 mil headed bolt attatched to bracket holding the slave cylinder in place,undo this as well,if the bracket for the slave is siezed,just tap it with a small hammer.

Thanks big time for your help. I had completed the job before reading your last post, had leaned the slave out of the way. no need to remove wheels on this model either( you knew that didn't you). I wept when she started, feel chuft doing a job that I didn't cause more damage. now to tackle the tail gate struts! GSF were great help too. Many thanks again.
