KY Engine Noise

Post by Iceworx »

Just how noisy should i expect this thing to be when started from cold? As its incredibly loud, with a very tappy/clicky sound.

It does quiten down a lot once its warmed though. after 10/15 minutes.

Just wondered if anyone else with a KY was in a similar situation?

its not just a ky thang.it will be a lazy tappet.a good run usually solves it.

Thanks Rob, would you think giving it an oil service would be of benefit?

an oil change wont necessarily cure it.the tappet drains its oil, usually when the van is left standing for some time.a good run will thin the oil allowing it to fill again.getting rid of the noise.
