Alternator problem?

Post by andrewg3uk »

Hi everyone,

New to this forum wondering if anyone could help before i spend money!!

Bought my T25 caravelle around two weeks ago on Ebay brought it all the way back from Dover to my home in swansea with no problems!
Now 2 days ago after a 35 mile journey it struggled to start again sounding like the battery was getting flat, so not thinking much of it i drove back home around 40 miles and parked up, not wanting to be stuck in the morning i attempted to start and a couple of turns and all was dead, now i thought about this and the battery is only weeks old and if the alternator is dead why isnt the ignition light on?
I have removed the alternator and the voltage regulator the brushes i would say are at the end of there life so that may be the problem (does anyone know where i could get a replacement) but still strange why the ignition light isnt coming on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Andy

there are threads on this before try doing a search if that helps at all sorry, The ignition may not be coming on for loads of reasons LED blown, not enough charge to light it up, .........etc

Did you put a volt meter across the alternator before taking it off or before the van finally died???

Put the battery on charge overnight or aslong as you can afford the time to do it this may help

not very electrically minded i am afraid
You can say alot of of things with "ar"
