Grey formica sheet for brown table help

Post by Spiral »

Hi, I have a brown front table that I want to change to grey to match the rest of my grey westy atlantic interior. Have sourced grey table edging, but does anyone know where I can get some grey (or thereabouts) formica type sheeting so that I can cover the brown table top? Thanks in advance :ok

3m X 1.2m grey formica sheet is £82 from http://www.buttles.com - a bit more than you expected I reckon. It used to be available from diy stores but haven't seen any for years. Full sheet from manufacturers is appx. £195!

Thanks for your reply Fritz. I had been Googling and found the site you mention but large sheets of the stuff only, and very expensive. All I really wanted was a small bit of grey formica to glue onto the top of a small front table. I wanted to turn a brown table top into a grey one to match the rest of my westy interior. Just thought that someone on here knew a place that did cut-to-size formica. May use sticky backed vinyl as a cheaper option :)

If it is already Formica a rub down with fine wet or dry and spraying then lacquer might be the easiest way forward.
It's readily available in Australia - it's because they are about 25 years behind us and are just coming out of the seventies!

Thanks Oldiebut goodie :ok Looks like the formica idea is a non-starter. Might try that "Plastikote" spray paint, available from B&Q and The Range :)
