Fuel Filler Neck Breather Pipe

Post by foxbase »

Hi all,

Had a search on Wiki and in the forum but couldn't find specifically what am after.

I think I have a fuel leak from the top of my (new) tank where the breather pipe from the filler neck returns to the top of the tank. I've purchased the grommet that pops into the tank but I was wondering how the pipe fits? Looking at the grommet the pipe should just push into it? I don't want to pull the pipe out if it's tricky to refit as I'll be doing it from the wheel arch (tank on).

If anyone is unsure which part I'm talking about it's item 11 from this page:

http://www.vwheritage.com/vwh/VW-Camper ... lateID=vwh" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've also got item 15 to refit too as my old one was crushed and basically not doing it's job at all since it was pushed down the pipe and not coupling the return pipe from the filler neck.

I'm sure this is fairly simples but thought I'd double check before pulling things off the van - especially as I'm out in her this w/e.

Yep, dead right. That pipe does just push into the rubber grommet. Use a little WD-40 to lubricate when assembling as these can be a bit tight to get in! :D

Good luck.
