Zig Distribution Wiring Question

Post by jaymo »

Hi folks,

I'll be purchasing a Zig Marque 1 Distribution Panel for my van shortly. I've not spoken to anyone about how it's wired, but from what I gather, it's not a difficult job.

At the moment I have an intelligent split charge system running from the main battery to the leisure battery. Is it just a case of chopping the split charge cable and running it through the Zig, or do I need to run a seperate power supply from the leisure battery to the Zig? And I guess auxilary items connect straight to the zig rather than to the leisure battery?

I'm sorry to ask what may seem like really obvious questions, but I'd rather ask than guess and blow something up

Any help or advice much appreciated :ok

You will need a new feed from the leisure battery to the ZIG vi a 30Amp fuse. Leave the split charge relay as is. The Zig CF series can be used (and is designed) to function without necessarily having a split charge relay but havinga one is better IMO and simplifies the wiring as well as being more convenient. All leisure appliances are then fed from the Zig panel fuses (except the 3 way fridge). The Zig, when wired as per manufacturers instructions, will use this new feed to charge the leisure battery if yours includes a charger.

Thanks for that bud.

It seemed more sense that the zig needs its own feed from the leisure battery, but I wasn't 100% sure.

I will go ahead and buy the unit with a little more confidence now :D

no problem, If you need any other help then state the model type as there are various schematics for these (one in the wiki too IIRC).
