1900 petrol versus 1600 diesel
I've got the opportunity of a 1900 petrol to replace my 1600 diesel - is it a worthwhile swap (i reckon on doing no more than 4000 miles a year in my van) or should i stick with my 1600 diesel, which i actually quite like, despite all its faults and the fact i have to drop into third on the M4 on the hills through Newport

if you want a little extra power so you only need to change to 4th
...then consider a 1y..1.9 diesel..its the simplest ,simplest swap and you will get around 30-35 mpg..loads of people have done it ,including me so theres loads of people you can ask about stuff

going from diesel to petrol you will have to alter the wiring up at the drivers clocks end of things, gearbox ratios could be fun too.... if you want to change back though you would have to flush or swap the tank

Ok, i'll freely admit to being a fcukwit - but why would i need to change the wiring at the clocks? The only reason i could think of would be for the rev counter, and my old battlebus hasn't got one of thosedugcati wrote:going from diesel to petrol you will have to alter the wiring up at the drivers clocks end of things, gearbox ratios could be fun too.... if you want to change back though you would have to flush or swap the tank

Glow plug lights in the dash - on my old van someone went from petrol to diesel with it a they altered the clocks to diesel ones.. there were one or two other bits in the clocks end of things but they escape me just now
