Struggling to lift Viking Top

Post by neli »

Hi. fairly new on here as only very recently bought our T25. Is a 1988 van with a westcountrycampers conversion done in 93. Bought last week and been away in it already - cracking little van! It has a viking roof which suits us perfectly as have 3 small children, just having a small problem as my hubby can lift the roof but I can barely shift it a mm. I'm 5'7' and fairly strong (or so i thought). Is it possible that we need to get the struts redone - not sure if that would help, has anyone else had the same problem or has anyone got any nifty little tricks or techniques for getting that roof moving. i want to camp on my own without hubby sometimes , and would really like to be independent when i'm camping!!

SWMBO's aged sister and hubby had this problem until I suggested using a short folding step ladder so they could lift with their shoulders rather than their hands/arms.
Might help.

we bought ours from an elderly couple who had what looked like a shovel with a bit of guttering on the end. just placed it beneath the roof and lifted. It also has three struts within that work well.

it houses us effectively, myself and our four children we are well pleased. :D

Thanks. I'll try both Not the most technically minded here (!) did you use the tool to lift from the outside ? Its ok once you get it moving, its just that first few inches then the struts take over
