Hi, I have a 1982 watercooled Devon camper. Only had for 2weeks- and first ever, so very much a newbie. Anyway, one of the front brake calipers have gone. Its at garage, and they say they have found the part for 90pounds. Does this sound about right? Not sure if I would like to salvage 2nd hand brake parts. Seems expensive.
Also I have a few holes in the front panel from rust. 2 in the windscreen corners, and one at the bumper well. The usual places I assume. Would it be worth considering replacing the whole front panel? Or will there be too many issues with the windscreen? Can anyone give me an idea of how much a front panel would cost. Welding is so dear - and yet to find a local welder who will do private.
Thanks so much for reading this, hope you can help!

Well...
You can have a look at the usual suppliers on here... Brickwerks, GSF, Eurocar parts etc etc
A quick look shows brakes international have Budweg refurb calipers for approxx 55 each, + the dreaded... with delivery (dont know what they charge), add on the exchange surcharge (only get it back if you sned old ones in and they accept them for refurb, sometimes not worth the post etc...) and that will come pretty close to 180 quid for a pair...
Ask em what brand and is that the best price....
Front panel... mmm... not an easy swap.. so unless you can do a lot yourself, costly... best to cut out rot and repair.. best find a van thats being brocke to cut some good bits out of...

bought my last pair of callipes for a whopping £20.00 for the pair (that was me taking them from a van being broken though....) the price you have been is for exchange units at GSF - OK they will be new'uns going on but are you sure they are needed? you can get rebuild kits for them (again GSF etc do these).
