Ok ive just bought one of these off ebay 45 quid. I cant see any other way of attacking that rust on the front apron and in dodgey areas. Plus im really lazy and always look for the easiest method no matter what the cost. 8)

Do you need a compressor with this or is it all built in?

Cheapest is kiln dried sand, but wear a face mask because of the silica.

I thought using silica was illegal? Having spoke to some local here, from what i understood there are differences in ballast, ie do you want to take the paint off slowly and not knacker the metal or are you doing the underside and just need something quite corse. The stuff he was using with a proffessional machine looked like ash but his english wasnt good enough to translate the name of it.
Will post my results if i get the right stuff.

There are various forms of grit available for different applications. General use grits are made from recycled grinding wheels. When doing seams I find the readily available grits to coarse to get deep into the seam but sand gives good results.

No kiln dried sand from a builders merchants sometimes called playpit sand in DIY stores.
