Another electrical question

Post by psychonaut »

Is it possible, via a regulator / rectifier / transformer or similar, to charge the leisure battery from a mains hook-up supply. The reason i ask is that if i'm running the car stereo and 12v lighting in the van in the evenings (chilling whilst drinking!!) and i'm parked up for more than an evening or two, i might run down the leisure battery, unless anyone can put me right on that.If i can somehow keep the leisure battery topped up via the mains hook-up, i wont need to worry about it losing charge.

Or am i talking rubbish and i need to stop letting my mind have fantastical ideas when i'm on the cider??!!

the cheapest way of doing this is to go to tesco and buy one of their 4 amp chargers..15 quid ..plug it into ya 240v and have it running to ya leisure battery.
i did this but (after being shown the light by mocki) had it wired in via a 3 way switch on the 12v side....one side running power to the leisure bat and the other to the starter bat so i could just ,by the flick of a switch ,charge any battery i wanted at any time....theres even better ways to go about it by buying a power pack to take the load off the battery ..but i havnt got that far yet :ok

p.s....im on fosters ..so you should disregard anything im saying

Cheers Weldore, that makes sense to me. But i am on Sheppeys rough farmhouse cider, so far from disregarding anything you say, i'll have forgotten it all by the morning anyway
