Re: front wheel bearings?
I seem to remember VW's time was either 0.9 or 1 hour per side (it's been 23 years so forgive me) but 2 hours per side is just taking the pi$$ really!
OK so things may be a little corroded (the two calliper bolts perhaps) so 2 - 2.2 hours tops (garages split an hour into 10 units....1 unit is 6 minutes)
This is typical Knee Gerk errrrrrr! I don't know so I'll think of a number and double it! really!!!!! I remember bearings were a bit of a bonus job as in...DONE IN HALF HOUR PER SIDE WITH AIR TOOLS.

Re: front wheel bearings?
I think 2 hours is too long for this job, have never had them done on the van but have had them done on various cars and I honestly dont think any of them took more than an hour.
I was told once by a garage that I had to have rear breaks and bearings done and that would take 4 hours because he had to take the wheels off to do the bearings, then put them back on and then take them off to do the breaks and put them back on....even with my level of knowledge (which was less than zero back then) that sounded a bit rum to me so I took it elswhere and it was done within an hour and a half for about a quarter of the price.
Since then my advice has always been to shop around and take other peoples personal recommendations.
