Hi all, I am now theproud owner of a Devon 1982 conversion. I love it,its nice to drive (albeit slow, but practise makes perfect)- I love driving old cars, very satisfying. Interior is OK, but pretty dirty,so needs a good bit of tlc. But the exterior is pretty rusty. Hope OK -passed MOT, but that doesn't really cover rust does it. Anyway, for me the price covered having rust done so hopefully my calculations are right! Taking to a garage this week.
But can anyone help with the interior. The previous owner only ever used as van so has no idea how everthing works - and neither do I!! No manual. Anyone live local to show me round the conversion, and explain how I use fridge, etc.
Thanks! I am now an official club member!!!

Hi, yes yours looks very similar - but ours is much more tatty!! With more rust. Also brown, so not the most pleasing colour! Yours is in brilliant nick - did you do a lot of work yourself? Or was it a good find? Has it had a respray?
I'm half excited and half embaressed about our new baby! I've always wanted one, and now I've got one our family and neighbours reactions are not that impressed!! Guess not to everyones taste, but now making me nervous. Hoping once get on the road, a couple of trips and I won't care what anyone thinks!
Our electrics are disconnected from the battery at the moment, but would be interested in how the fridge works. I am guessing the sink works by switching it on underneath, and then pressing the button next to the switch to let out water? Can't test this either as water bottle missing and hose perished. But this shouldn't be to hard to fix should it?
I don't have hook up either.

If you look in "club stuff" (top of the page) check out the down loads section when you know your fridge model, as there are operating instructions for you.
you can buy a hook up kit from Towsure.
my mate has a devon they are good

Well everyone's looks far more impressive than mine!! But I guess they would cost a lot more to buy, so swings and roundabouts. I'll take photos soon.
By the way where do I find the spare wheel?
I have a haynes manual in the post - but does anyone have a devon conversion manual?
I need a new water bottle too, as the van didn't come with one. Are they a standard shape? What size do I need to fit in the space at the back of the van? Also I am assuming the hose can be any old thing?
Thanks for the fridge info - I think it is electrolux, so will look up.

Nope, they all start looking frayed and well used, what you see is the end result of some hard work, that's all.

devons are pretty simple affairs, so just ask on here if you don't get one.I have a haynes manual in the post - but does anyone have a devon conversion manual?
you may find one at a show with traders selling second hand interiors. water tanks clean up okI need a new water bottle too, as the van didn't come with one. Are they a standard shape? What size do I need to fit in the space at the back of the van?

Hi, can you help with the keys. I seem to have 2 the same (although only one works) which do the doors and engine. 1 small one that does the petrol tank. And then one P shaped key. It has the VW logo on it, so assume to dowith the van! It is the same size as the engine keys.
Any idea what it is for?

Yes there was something regarding this ,a few months ago, If I recall it was a key to a key safe with spare keys.
there should be a key for the glovebox too.
