do i have to stay with the hydrolic lifters or can i put standard ones in
also if i can put either in which is best

If you change the lifters then you have to change the camshaft for the solid type

well VW and other car manufacturers used hydraulic lifters to erradicate tappet noise and manual adjustment.
I don't think there are any power advantages.
I've heared a solid lifter engine and it was noisier than my hydraulic engine.

I have solid lifters in my van and haven't changed the cam, it runs feckin lovely, before anyone rings any alarm bells on this, had it on a rolling road perfect drove to croatia last year perfect NICE, the down side is that you do have to maintain them gap is 6thou I seem to remember

if its apart, stick a warm cam in. then use solid lifters as required.....
