Battery help please

Post by Daniel-son »

Yo,
Me and few mates bought t25 last week but its like totally stripped and nowt in it. We are looking at slowly fitting things inside but would like to have a tv and ps3 :) and kettle but we dont have a clue how to go about wiring all this in or what we need to sort the power out. If any one could please point me in the right direction of how to make it so we have like 240v plugs to plug things like kettles and tvs in thatll be great ta.

cheers bud

Wired very much like a domestic system, you need:
A small consumer unit with built in RCB's (residual circuit breakers)
A couple of switched 3 pin sockets with shallow plastic mounting boxes (switches mounted to the front of a panel, the box mounted behind)
5 metres or so of 2.5mm twin and earth cable
1-2 metres of flexible 13amp cable to run to the swing out 230volt external socket
Cable ties
An external hook up box and socket (will need to cut a rectangular section out of the side of the van to mount the box)
230volt hook up lead

Or you could mount the external Hook up socket on the back of the inspection hatch/flap.

Would it be ok to mount the external hook up socket on the engine bay flap on an air cooled van too?

As long as the wiring is neatly cable tied away from anything moving or hot, then yes. Remember this is mains electricity so you need to be absolutely sure it's all safe.(you will need the flexible 13amp cable if the socket needs to move with the flap)
