blue star central locking
My central locking on my blue star locked up I managed to free in so I can get in!!! I removed the motors out of the front doors I they both seemed ok? The rod that moves out of the top had so resistance on one but the other moved very easy .is this normal?? If I have defective motors can I get new ones or can some one repair the ones I have? Any help would be great many thanks. Jason

Re: blue star central locking
Take the motors apart, there is not that much to them.
You will find a motor, 2 gear wheels (the larger one has electrical contacts on the rear), and a sliding brass /copper contact recessed into the plunger that moves the locking button.
clean up all the contacts and maybe replace the springs on the sliding contact.

Re: blue star central locking
Hi
I removed both motors yesterday and both of the rods that connect to the hook that opens or closes the door knob were very hard to manually pull up. Today I removed the passengers and it was very easy to move. Should there be a lot of resistance or not?
I took it apart and it looked very scary so I didn't poke about to much but I re assembled it put it back and no real difference?
The problem started when the passengers door would not operate the central locking but the drivers did, then a few days later the doors just locked solid and I couldn't get in!! I removed the door cards and poked about and freed it up but now I have no central locking at all .

Re: blue star central locking
Resistance depends on where the large gearwheel stopped.
There is an excentric boss on this gear that moves the plunger.
There are 4 wires to each motor.
12V + connects to the single connector
12V - connects to the single horinnector in the group of 3
briefly connecting one or other of the vertical contacts 12V + should lock or unlock the door.
It sounds like the passenger motors sliding contact has stuck (forcing the drivers door to continualy try to lock)

Re: blue star central locking
I dont know of any pictures of the insides, Next time I have mine in bits I'll take some.
If you can take some photos of yours, I''ll point out the bits.
Have you tried connecting the motor up as my previous post?
As I said any resistance to movement depends on where the excentric boss has stopped.
Universal locking motors come in a number of flavours, ( number of wires etc) but I'm pretty sure they wont work with the existing units.
You could try a VW comercial parts dept they may still be available, but be prepared for heafty price tag. I've heard of NOS motors going for silly money.
