Check the wiki https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ca ... s_that_fit
Don't think anyone's sourced a genuine "leisure" battery but there's lots of posts on this, just type "leisure battery" into the search box for the discussions

What a long strange trip it's been

Someone (not too long ago) found a very high spec dual purpose leisure/main battery on this forum that was supposed to fit the limited space behind the passenger seat. Cost around £90 IIRC and the thread included pictures, supplier and specification, it was a deep discharge. Seem too remember thay updated the thread after it arrived...might be worth doing a search if the cost is in your price range.

This is probably the thread to which AngeloEvs was referring.............

and this the link to the battery........

Do measure your battery compartment though, as generally 175mm high is considered the (Underseat) limit for our vans.

I have a 83 devon and move it to the space next to the rock and roll bed the bit you can't get to with out emptying the cupboard
This is easly done as the wires are there alrady as the control box is above it
The bit under the seat makes a usefull hidy hole

Well no becuase Leasure batteries are just dressed up car batteries. What is needed is a true deep cycle battery such as a trojan. Normal starter batteries are good for about 100 cycles at 50% and a leasure battery might be good for 250 cycles at 50%
A good deep cycle battery such as a trojan is good for about 1500 cycles.
So if you bring your starter battery down to 50% charge 100 times it will be dead. In these terms if you bring it down to 50% 50 times it will only be 50% of the new battery so you can see that quite quickey a starter battery is Knaxkered.
And so is the case with a leasure battery, becuase they are not much better than a car or Starter battery they die quite quickley as well. So yes you are right you might as well buy a battery that wont last as long but will start your van if you need it to!
But if you buy a true deep cycle battery like a trojan it will last for 1o years but still have the cranking power to start a lorry

My bose bat is 3 yrs old and as good as new.If you wild camp all year round the trojan might be worth the big bucks. But if you buy a true deep cycle battery like a trojan it will last for 1o years but still have the cranking power to start a lorry
