Heater fan and buzzer

Post by Jon Bisson GSY »

Hi,
Just decided to tackle a long running lack of fan and stripped the dash out. That was fun. Discovered a heater full of acorns and a very stiff fan that with one melted wire, looks knackered. What options do I have? can the motor be removed and re-wound? or is it time for a new one?
Amoungst some of the gash wiring a previous owner has inflicted on this bus I have discovered that the buzzer relay has been removed, and an off-shoot of the original loom containing four wires (2*brown, one grey w/blue stripe and one red) that has been snipped off behind the clocks. Any ideas, related to the buzzer?
I have tried the wiki, but it appears to be down.
Thanks,
Jon

According to the (reliable?) Mr. Haynes wiring diagram....... Grey/Blue should supply the dash lights through pin 1 of the multipin connector from the loom to the PCB, and the Red wire (Live at all times ignition on or off) supplies the clock through pin 5. Browns are earths, (pin 3 is one), don't know what t'other may be.

Buzzer.... many peeps may say that they are more trouble than they are worth.

Heater fan motor....... you never know.... a clean up, bit of lube on the bearings, now it is free of obstructions..... could be that the thing will still run.

Thanks for that, looks like he wiring was the clock and associated light, might pop another in.
The fan feels very shagged, One of the lives was melted, so I suspect it was left live when jammed. Brickwerks have new ones, so probs go for that.
Thanks
