child seats
Little Lauren has now outgrown the baby seat so we need to buy the next size (9kg - 20kg). Just wondering which child seats people may have successfully fitted in the back of a T25 - and any seat belt conversions people may have done too.
it seems that only certain seats will go in certain cars now and we have to buy one that goes in Mummy's car and Daddy's car and then will also strap into the van!
Any ideas and suggestions gratefully received!
Dom.

Re: child seats
I've just got the lap belts at the mo, but I'm interested in hearing about upgrades to 3-point - and if i upgrade I'm sure I'll have more choice of seats...
Re: child seats
Any seat that fits using a 3 point belt should fit any car/van with 3 point belts. Isofix is a whole new ball game and won't apply to the van (unless there's someone out there who's managed to fit Isofix fixings to their van?) Ours is a Britax Evolva and has fitted every car its ever been fitted in, the only concern we had was that the seat back in the van wasn't high enough and the child seat used to poke up well above it ... I got that worried about it that I ended up replacing the complete seat back and moving the cushion up. I think there is one seat that'll fit lap belts, a Graco, have a search on here for it.

There's a Britax eclipse as well.

Re: child seats
Well thats what I thought - any seat should fit. It certainly was that simple when my son was in car seats 12 years ago - but all the child seat shops now have a list of cars and which seats will fit - they won't sell us a seat unless the manufacture has it on their list as suitable for your car, and until the shop's seat expert has fitted it in both our cars! On the seat makers websites you can select your car and see which of their seats will fit your car! It makes it complicated. Of course, Maxi Cosi and Britax do not have T25 on their list!

Re: child seats
My list of lapbelt compatable current car seats...
* Britax Freeway (Fisher Price forward facing seat)
* Britax Eclipse (including Si & Ultra models)
* Britax Renaissance (including Si models)
Graco Nautilus
Britax regent
As fot the shop not bein prepared to fit - then don't go there - buy online and fit yourself.
If I ttok the van in I reckon they would tell me I couldn't have a childseat unless in the front.....

Re: child seats
dude i had to get a new car seat for me 2 n a bit yr old, went to a number of shops, BUT because the teather on the clip end of me belt is so long everyone suggested that i get a shorter clip strap, (could i get one ???? could i hell,,,) so went babies R us, (in any toys r us) n they do the weight and height of your kiddie n sell you the seat that is the best in safety for there size ect,,, then (they will tell you along the lines of) its your responsibility to make sure it fits correctly in the seat ect, good luck

so what if i stink,,, close ur nose

Re: child seats
we've got the britax eclipse si for our boy (18 months)
it fits easily with the lap belt on the r&r bed and swaps into the 3 point in our other car no worries.
got it from http://www.roofrackshop.co.uk cheaper than highstreet prices and free delivery.

Re: child seats
Me too, Maxi Cosy Prioi SP. Fits very well with the lap belt but needs to be pulled really tight. We have one on each side for the 5 and 2 year old. More expensive than most but bullet proof seats

Re: child seats
britax eclipse si on a lap belt!!!
I have tried every way possible to fit this in my T25 with a lap belt with no success - it always feels wobbly and dangerous. So, I rang Britax who said very firmly that it should not be used with a lapbelt. Please be careful with your bundles of joy!

wierd, my britax eclipse (don't know if its an si or not..) fitted fine, and the instructions say its ok with a lap belt. You're right though, if your not happy and it wobbles then defo not safe.

Re: child seats
This link is for an Eclipse, not and Eclipse SI, our instructions for the SI are different and claim a lap belt isn't possible. But, and it is difficult for me to say this, but I MIGHT be wrong lol
I hope I am, that would mean we could put the seat in the back and my wife could sit at the front!
She is going to ring Britax again tomorrow.
fingers crossed

Re: child seats
ours is the eclipse si and it definitely fits securely with the lap belt - it's not listed on the britax website any more (it's a 2008 model) but the details on plenty of other sites say it can be used with a lap belt - i'm pretty sure it's got a diagram on the side showing how you fit it with a lap belt as well as a 3 point belt..
our lap belt is a fixed length one rather than inertia - maybe that might be why your one feels loose?
if i wasn't happy with the fit there's no way i'd be using it.
