What amps should the starter battery be, I have 460 Amps in mine, but halfords book says 540
will that make any difference long term?
and no I would not buy a battery from them

Seems an odd question to me.
The only amps I would be interested in are the CCA or Cold Cranking Amps.
The starter draws a huge current and when the ignition is turned on my Ammeter flicks to 40 amps, turning the starter motor and the ammeter swings to 60 amps.
Code 067 and 096 provide more than enough CCA to cover this requirement
