Sheared bolt

I dont know if this is of any interest to anyone but here goes;
I was doing some work to the front suspension and the top ball joint had to come off. One of the bolts holding it on sheared off. There was nothing wrong with the ball joint and it was late so I couldn't go out and buy one. I thought I'd try something I'd seen before many years ago. First I tried to drill it out and snapped the drill bit. oops! Well there was about 2mm of thread left on the bolt so I put a 17mm nut on it and here is the good part; I got the old mig welder out and filled the nut up with weld (I am not the best welder in the world) the idea to weld the nut and the remainder of the old bolt together and... Hey presto.... it only fck'n worked, I just put a spanner on it and unscrewed it.
I was well chuffed. The feel good factor? Oh yes, Now I am having a bevvie and still on a high from it.
I will keep the offending lump as another testament to the lengths we go to to keep our vans on the road.You can shove your "Scrappage scheme"

Been there mate, the same happend to me when replaceing the exhaust on my t25, the nut snapped off in the cylinder head Ahggggg brown trouser time but the old mig came to the rescue. All hale the god that is the mig welder !

Now for my next trick. I have a noisy Hydraulic cam follower that refuses to shut up..Wish me luck.
Does anyone know where to buy the solid type followers?

Can't just do one..you'll need to replace the cam for solid lifters.

there's a step thru in the wiki to replace a noisy lifter, without head removal

That sounds encouraging. Funny thing is I started the engine up this morn and the noise went almost immediately?
For how long I dont know? Maybe its lack of use, I will use it a bit more to see if that makes a difference.

When was tha last time you changed your engine oil, new oil tends to make the run a bit quieter.

changed the oil about 12 months ago but i have only done about 3k miles and it was that all singing dancing morris oil(bit watery for my liking) I will change it for good measure.
