Regulator

Post by kevtherev »

Are the regulators the same in a 90 amp as in a 45 amp bosch?

so far I have looked at various suppliers and there is no difference.
can someone confirm this?

Can't answer a specific yes or no Kev but the regulator monitors the voltage and controls the Field Winding current . If the rectifier pack is separate to the regulator then the same regulator could be used (as long as it fits the slip rings). If its the same part number then it is the same unit. Its the rectifier pack that handles the bulk of the charging current.

Kev
I replaced the one on my 90amp/hr and remember there were quite a few units referenced. These guys have the list, just quote them the number off the label:

Contact details for the regulator/bush pack supplier:
Vehicle Electrics (Birmingham Ltd) The aftermarket number for MY alternator (yours may be different) was VERG 1009 but they have a list to cross reference your particular aternator number against so you can order the correct item. Mine was £9.70 incl post.

It doesn't matter what the alternator output is the regulator works the same. There's only two types of regulator for T3's. 070 903 803A fits A/C and early diesels and 068 903 803D fits all the rest. The main differences are the length of the the brush box.
