Bin the Valeo 90 Amp Alternator. Revert back to the Bosch Alternator for Engine codes CS. KY. JX. 65 Amp Part No 068-903-017M
Ditto-------65 Amp Part No 068-998-329
- Ditto-------90 Amp Part No 068-903-031RX
- Ditto-------90 Amp Part No 068-903-017PX
And use CS-KY-JX Existing wiring .

Hi Paul. I se you are Loged in,---------Also bin the AAZ--1Y Starter Motor you need the CS-KY-JX as the 1 that came with the Mk 3 Golf wont fit into gearbox bell housing, as with other Items regarding wiring you need to take off the water inlet & and outlet (Placcy ones ) of the Golf and refit with ones from JX if that was your original engine.

Hi Paul as its all new to you, and you didnt do the conversion, then I would suggest you scroll to top of the forum page and look on the top task bar, there is an Icon called the WIKI have a good mooch in there listed under diesels and all will be revealed, as regarding the wiring on the back of the Alternator, you have located were the fat red wire connects to. the two smaller pins can be found by using a avo meter or a 12v tester, ie 2 wires atached to a 12v bulb. if you get the connections wrong at worst you wil only blow a fuse. engine Codes CS ==1.6D. KY===1.7D===JX==1.6TD.
And a 65Amp Alternator will give you enough power for charging.
