Lost 3rd gear a couple of weeks ago, all others are fine, so have driven approx 200 miles without using 3rd, out of neccessity
When trying to engage 3rd it felt like it wasn't quite 'catching' and would grind, so I checked all the linkage and found a bit of wear at base of gearlever. Rebushed it and adjusted, less play but still no 3rd
On way home tonight and after pulling off from a junction in 1st changed to 2nd, no problems, then went to 4th (no 3rd remember) and the gear lever went into 4th, but it stayed in 2nd
Pulled off into a layby and vehicle stalled. No matter what I did with the gear lever the gearbox is stuck in 2nd. I crawled underneath and checked from front to back, and all looks good. The shaft into the gearbox is sliding in and out when I moved the shift rods, and it's rotating, but it's firmly stuck in 2nd. 20 mile drive home at 18-20mph
Where should I start to look

) remove the horizontal gearshift rod at the gearbox, using the downward lever and you should be able to select the gears by hand (perhaps struggling a tad with 1st/reverse if it's a 5 speed.
