Autohomes poptop roof cushions

Post by TravellingChick »

Is there supposed to be 2 roof cushions for the poptop? If so, where does the second get stored?

I only have one up there which isn't going to make it particularly comfortable for my niece who's keen to come camping this weekend.

Would a blowup mattress work up there d'you think?

TIA
Sarah

ps: can she run her GHDs off the leisure battery?

Hi Sarah

I have got one 'big' cushion and two smaller ones. All togeter they will make at least a 3/4 bed I'd say.
One of the smaller ones is lying on top of the big one and the folding sides of the pop top are resting on
the smaller cusion. We tried to put the second small one on the board just above the front seats but I was
concerned that the folding sides of the top would bend slightly as they were not resting evenly.
This was only because one of the small cushions is already 'dented' from the weight of the roof, and the other
isn't.
Was wondering myself though where the two smaller cushions are supposed to go so at the moment we've put
one of them at the back with the downstairs stuff.

Not sure about the blow up mattress, depends I suppose, single would fit into it lengthwise but double might be
a bit wide...but then they come in all sizes I think.

:D

Ahhhh, thank you! I reckon I'm missing the 2 small ones then. I've got an idea in my head (I think I've seen a photo somewhere but can't be 100%) that they are stowed on top of the extra cushion that makes up the rock n roll bed.

I've got a huge square of foam that my seller gave me but it's about 3 x thicker and a bit bigger than the cushion I do have. Perhaps I could hack into it myself and attempt to cut 2 smaller pieces.............

Cheers
:ok

i too have one big cushion permanently stored on the bed base and the 2 smaller cushions simply rest on the bed cushion by the rear hatch when the roof is down.

I can measure the smaller ones if you's like
83 2ltr Air-Cooled Autohomes Kamper. Kamper roof died. Fitted an original Westy Pop-top.

Our narrower cushions fit neatly under the side cheeks of the poptop when it's down, with the larger one in the normal upper bed position as 'twere.
