Help needed for Sharkey!

Post by tigsbirman »

There's an oil leak but can't track it down.

Only takes a couple minutes with engine running and oil is spraying all over engine bay. All the hoses etc seem intact. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to if there is a 'usual suspect' area.

Cheers

No Pics yet but it's puzzling.

Oil leaking into air filter, crankshaft seal, front casing.
Is the engine giving up????

Hiya Tigs, it's a 2.1 petrol/lpg isn't it ? When you say it's 'spraying' is it being thrown by the crankshaft pulley ? Is the fanbelt slipping or very shiny ? It's quite normal for oil to be in the ducting to the filter and even onto the filter itself.

It could be as simple as the crankshaft oil seal.

could be your crank shaft seal.the leak could be getting onto your pulley and this is causing it to flick everywhere.not a massive job to replace..

Tigs , wash it down, get it clean so you can see where better?

mine pithed it out of the oilfiller tube onto the zorst and was sucked up by the alternator and spat everywhere......
took ages to see where it was comming from, and about 3 mins to fix.
