How low? 30 or 50

Post by Yozza »

Hello,

I've been planning to lower the van as it's got newish stock dampers and original springs with steel wheels (yes it looks like a crop duster it's that high).
I use the van for everyday use but also use it for camping with the family.
The van failed the MOT for a broken rear spring so this would be an ideal time to replace the original springs with some shorter ones. I also have a set of Merc alloys (16") waiting to be put on too. Ideally, I don't want to replace the dampers as they are fairly new.
I don't want to go too low, as I'm concerned that the ride will be to stiff/choppy when loaded up for camping.

Can anyone offer any experience/advice, I reckon it's either 30 or 50mm drop. My re-test has to be with 2 weeks so urgent advice needed asap.

Thanks,
Y

Cheers, when you sat quality spring kit, do you mean the AVO type from Brickwerks? Is 50mm drop ok with stock dampers and trimmed end stops?
Thanks

got the full kit on mine so cannot coment on springs with standard dampers, if they are new all should be well.
