Oil leaking from brake servo vacuum unit (or whatever its ca

Post by benico »

Not sure of its proper name but I am leaking oil from the vacuum pump(?) which gives brake servo assistance (located top right of engine) I have tried fixing with araldite but it didnt last. Brakes work but need Chris Hoyes thighs to stop quickly - also concerned about losing oil.

Does anybody know the proper name for this bit and where I could get one from.

Cheers
Ben

£112 new when I bought mine......

Can you see a part number on the pump? as all three types of seals on Vagcat don't say discontinued......
I think you can still buy just the top part.

N 90359001
seal / for groove: / only for:
54X2,4 1,8MM 068 145 101 EX /

N 90127101
seal / for groove: / only for:
54,5X2N 1,35MM 068 145 101 EX /

N 90415901
seal / for:
58X2 068 145 101 GX /

You can buy all three for less than a fiver so contact your local VW, or Cord Wallis dealer and see if they're still available.
If not Pm "mercdoctor", Marcus may have a good second hand one available.
That's what I would do.

If all else fails pm me as I have a brand new one in reserve, and am still using the one the infamous T'onion sent me.

It's a good idea to register with Vagcat, then you could search all this.(VW porn you know).
Just google vagcat and register, it's free and very handy when you need a part.
search under type 2 68-92
Rob.

Thanks for the info - c'est tres tres interesting our kid.

I think its just the top bit I need as its the pipe joining the top sleeve which has come away (there are no leaks out of the main unit) (see pics - click on them for full view). I was nt sure if fitting a new top bit to the main unit might not work as the older main bit may have worn etc. so the seal wouldn't be 'proper'.

I would Pm Marcus "Mercdoctor" It's not worth Faffing around, his prices are very reasonable and I would imagine cheaper than a new top.
