Hightop Profile

Post by albertramsbottom »

Hi

My rear cupboard in my van doesnt fit and is very loose. so I pulled it out and have brought a sheet of MDF to make a new one but I am stumped as to how to meausre the profile of my Sheldon Hightop. To explain what i am trying to do a little clearer I want to cut the MDF to fit exactly right across the van but the hightop has a very intricate profile. Once done I will cut a hole in it and put a door on it.

So has anyone done this before? or is there any techniques which I could use to cut this wood

:?

Cheers

Cardboard best option, when you have rough fit, tape a pencil to a piecce of wood about 2 X 1 (piece of batten will do) pencil on the thin side of wood, hold cardboard up or get a helper to do this, rub wood against roof marking cardboard as you go from one side to the other, cut this out and check for profile and redo if needed with just pencil (not taped to wood) When you have this piece you will need to do the sides, foolow instructions and the tape each side to centre piece and there you have a template. Worked for me

Put a straight edge horizontally across the gap, mark this in cm increments and measure vertically at each point, making notes as you go along. Now replicate the results on a piece of cardboard and join the dots together et Voila, Mange Tout etc etc
