Can you convert Left hand drive to Right hand Drive

Hi guys,

I am a newbee in every sense: 1) new to this forum, 2) new to any forum, 3) new to Type 25s. Actually I am not even new to T25s as I am still to buy one, hence this posting.

We have 4 kids so need a daily runner with 6+ seats but also love the camping thing and long to have a camper. Looking about I think a poptop 'Multivan' setup will suit us perfectly but they all seem to be LHD?

Firstly is this true or are there any RHD multivans out there?

Secondly if we want to modify a vehicle to suit our needs then should we aim for a RHD and modify the interior or get a multivan and do a RHD modification?

you really need to drive one first! lhd are better spec'd! not as bad as you might expect!

I've got 4 kids as well,
I drive a T25 Caravelle GL trim. It has 7 seats, but only 5 have 3 point seatbelts. 2 have lap belts.
I used to have a T25 Bus, 6 seats all with 3 point seatbelts.
I think you wolud have trouble getting 6 seats with 3 point seatbelts in a camper.
The club 80-90 scean is fantastic, so get stuck in. Buy a van with seats and a tent.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah I have read quite a bit now saying that LHD are actually alright to drive. As you say we would have to drive one first!

If I thought a conversion from left to right was possible then I would just go for it. That way if it turned out be bad for us we could invest in the conversion. Spose we could go for it anyway and if needs be look around for a swap in the future.

Can't wait to join the club.

Welcome to 80-90.
Got a LHD T25 Westfalia California just over a year ago, was a bit dubious, like yourself, about it being a left hooker but a mate has had a few & said it was easier than you would expect to drive so I took the plunge. After a few wraps of the knuckles on the door I soon learnt that the gear stick was the other side! Now it is second nature to jump from a RHD car to the LHD bus.

Its a lot of work to convert left to right on these vans 1 week plus of soild work. And if ya got lots of kiddies riding with ya best option would be a caravelle in RHD or even better a Multivan in LHD as they have a funky fold table n 7 proper seats n seat belts..
