Fuel Pump Hose - New Pump

Post by DaveB »

I've got a new fuel pump for my 1.9 1989 Petrol Watercooled. It is the JK model
It all fits fine apart from the feeder hose.

The new pump has an 8mm pipe but the original hose is smaller, closer to 5-6mm hole.
Can I get a 6->8mm joining fitting from anywhere as Halfords only seem to stock 8mm hoses which I guess won't fit the fuel line without leaking?

Anyone had the same problem?

Just fit an inline fuel filter like this which is stepped for for 8 & 6 mm hose.

Same as Bigherb, removed the original filter close to the tank and replaced with stepped filter in the engine bay, just make sure it is well secured and not in close contact to any moving/hot parts.

Thanks, do I even need to remove the old one?

It would be preferable just replace it with a new hose from the tank.
