T3 leaking water onto my pedals

Post by dink »

I've got water dripping onto the pedals sometimes
I've recently had the windscreen out and welded in new metal around the lip where it was rotten
I figured that was it
where else is likely for water to be getting through
I've had the headlamps and grill out and cannot see any holes

No rot on the floor wells?
I found that I had slight hole above the side fitted ariel. Water peed in. don't know why but after Ifilled it, it seems ok for now. (coincidental?)

A windscreen leak normally runs down the bulkhead and under the rubber mats to the floor pans so it may not be that. As jake1953 said, any small hole such as an old aerial fixing will let water in. The windscreen washer jet plastic tubes can have holes in and then leak when you use them too. I'd try and find an occurance common denominator to narrow down your search, for example - if it happens after you use your washer jets then that's probably the best place to look. Water can get in through the door vents too so I've heard. Best of luck finding it.....

Just a thought... Leaking onto the pedals is a strange place for water to get to. Now I know this sounds daft but I am thinking it's brake fluid. Hardly any difference in appearance to water and very easy to think it's water if thats what you're expecting!
Next time it comes back, get a little on your fingers and run your thumb around it. Does it feel a bit more like thin oil than water?
If you're certain its water then its possible the leak could be starting at the top of the windscreen seal but most leaks from the windscreen end up in the bottom corners and run down inside there.

definately not brakefluid, unless it tastes like water
no rot under the mats, it's dripping down somewhere
going to have to pull out the grills and h/lamps i guess, and turn the hose on it

I still cannot see where it's coming in from, I've welded repairs to the bottom of the windscreen surround, when I had the windscreen out, so it's all good metal, no holes, it's been seam sealed, primed filled then top coated
it's definately water

If you're positive that it isn't the windscreen that only really leaves either wiper mounts, sprayer nozzle mounts or some old antenna hole
