Twin carb refurb?

Post by Helga »

Hi

My 1982 twin carbs, off my 2 lite Aircooled, are both leaking - I have been told by my garage that the seals are gone, they say they would change all the seals and balance the carbs for 90 quid (though I'd have to get the refurb kit myself)... now my question is, is it easy, if I purchased the kit myself, to do your own carbs? I suppose you just take it all appart and put the new seals in? Would it be easy for a novice to do that? Plus where would I get information on balancing them afterwards?... whatever 'balancing' means!! lol.

Cheers.

Right, but Steve is in Chester isn't he? Can you simply send carbs in to be done - or do they need to be set up on the vehicle?

Cheers.

I'm pretty sure Steve would refurb them if you post them however do you know/have got the tools to set them up once posted back home? you would otherwise end up finding yourself asking for someone to tow you to a garage so they can then refit/set up the refurb'd carbs...

(ignore my ramblings if you have all the tools and know how to set up the carbs! :P )
It is by will alone that I set my 'van' in motion!

It's not that far from Stockport - I'm in Stretford. I combined my last visit to him with a day out in Chester, but I think he does do a postal service and he is a very nice man to boot, so give him a ring.
