engine 1.9dg electrics

Post by scootersjamie »

here we go so many questions ,just fitted not so new 1.9 dg engine to my van ,when i removed my old 1 marked all the wires wot goes to where ,as at some stage its been rewired so no colour code ,had the battery on charge ,refitted it ,this is the origanel battery that came with the van,it started the old engine no problem, but theres nothing its just clicks from under the glove box but doesnt do nothing ,i am 80 per cent sure the wires are in the right place ,if anybody lives local to tyldesley near leigh and fancys a ride who has a 1.9dg engine fitted so i can check please ,one thing i have noticed is when the ignition light is in the wires in the engine bay smell as though they are burning, yes i turned it of straight away ,also coming out of the flywheel is a grey wire with a plug in adapter whot is this for ?

the grey three pin plug wire from front of engine behind flywheel is the tdc sensor for connection to vw timing machine, ignore it, just make sure it can't get caught in the belt, should be clamped to back of alternator in ideal world.
Sorry I've not got a DG anymore
