CU pushrod seals, where from?
I've not found anywhere in the UK listing seals for the 2l CU engine. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Cool Air and ask for the red silicon ones, they last for ages.

Did you have to re-adjust the tappets or just bolt the rocker shaft back on as it came off?

Re: CU pushrod seals, where from?
The only place to get pushrod tube seals from is the VW Classic Parts Center http://www.vw-classicparts.de" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .
Avoid the cheapo crap it's not worth it unless you want to keep replacing pushrod tube seals every 3,000 to 5,000 miles !!!
The part numbers for the pushrod tube seals are the following:-
Inner (8 required): 021 109 345 A
Outer (8 required): 021 109 349 B
Rocker cover gaskets (2 required): 021 101 481
Rocker covers (2 required if needed): 021 101 471
Also the tappets must not be re-adjusted. Leave them as they are after you re-install the rocker shafts.

Re: CU pushrod seals, where from?
Adjusting the tappets is completely unnecessary since the hydraulic tappets (in the crankcase) will sort themselves out. On the original rocker covers (mine had them before I replaced the rocker covers) there are stickers on them telling you not to adjust them.
Adjusting the valve clearances may also lead to problems later on.

Ok, Makes sense.
Why does the haynes go on about setting the gap up then?
Some folk say 1/2 turn others say 2!
I'll leave em for now

I got a set through the post yesterday from GSF. I've been told that the green ones (14565's) are for air con units! Do you know if this is correct?saabdub wrote:Fitted a GSF set today! off the shelf at my local store!

Re: CU pushrod seals, where from?
I seem to remember fitting GSF green ones to my campervan. 5,000 miles later I threw them away since they were useless and leaked oil everywhere !!!
I have since fitted genuine ones from VW Classic Parts Center and haven't looked back since.

Re: CU pushrod seals, where from?
Ended up getting them from JK.
Fitted yesterday in about 1 1/2 hours. Got a drip on the drive this morning. Fingers crossed its from the 1/2 pint of drip in each heat exchanger
