grease cap. part no 251407691A vag cat only shows the one.so dont know if this is the one with the hole for the speedo.you will also need the small circlip that stops the speedo cable from slipping through the cap part no N 0124342

c clip is just to hold the cable in place, you'll need to slightly deform the cap so it is a tight interference fit on the hub, but sometimes they split and then will always fall off

that's a familiar sounding story ... got the circlip and the sealant over the top as well, I just assumed it was to stop water getting in and had always been like that??
I recently replaced the speedo cable on my westy,i needed to buy a "c" clip for the cap,ordered ONE from g.s.f went to collect the parts and had to buy a box of 20 clips as"thats how they come"
they were only a couple of quid though .
haynes manual tells you to cover the end of cable with silicone to stop the ingress of water into the wheel bearing.
