Many of their small screen LCD TVs run off 230v & then have a small inline transformer to step down to 12v. You could remove the plug/transformer & fit a 12 plug so you can use it in your van. If you have hook-up then why not keep the 230v set up?

I have just bought a Dabs value 19" widescreen LCD HD TV with built in freeview and DVD player at £129 inc VAT. The input to the TV is 12V which is supplied by mains lead with a transformer down to 12V. It has a superb picture and loads of different inputs and outputs. The only problem we have found is the sound which is a bit "boxy". I happened to have a pair of Hi-Fi computer speakers with built amp and jacking these into the earphone socket gives us brilliant sound as well. http://www.dabs.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just put a USB DVBT donggle in your laptop, stick the twig on window and away you go, all the freeview channels(if you can get a good signal that is) add a external pair of speekers or plug into your headunit and play out throu those big speekrs you got under the seat ?????

Add a mobile internet dongle and the worlds your lobster,.........

I've seen digital photo frames that play movies from memory cards for only £45. Where can you get this inliner transformer thingy? I've had a look but must be googling the wrong phrase. I would like to step these digital frames down to 12v

Just bought an Akura from a seller on ebay-fantastic customer service. First Tv arrives smashed to bits but second was sound.

As someone has mentoned on another post they all seem to be made by a few Chinese manufacturers so the name is largely irrelevant, mine is a 15" LCD with built in freeview and DVD, I have noticed that it tends to freeze for a split second when playing dvds but other than that its alright.

I would've bought a same spec tv from Tesco for £115 but they don't deliver to Jersey. Also I noticed when I was in Co-op t'other night they sell the Akura brand and I think Sainsbury do/did so they might have some deals on?

Another way to look at it is to buy an inverter.

I found a 150watt one in tescos bargain rack a while ago for £6. with that i can power a 15 inch freeview tv from Argos (£99) job done.
