Water pipes

Post by BigTam »

The long water pipes on my van are on the way out, mild steel section gone on one and going on the other, no longer available from VW, Gunzl does stainless ones, £200 the pair plus shipping

Ian, you mentioned at the weekend that your mate was going to do some, any idea when :?:

Ian's away camping all week Tom, so you might be better off giving him a ring.

Why not go for the plastic ones BT? They do fit but you have to make holes underneath a tad larger n fittin the rubbers onto them isn't as bad as I thouht jus pop em in a cup of boiling water first. I also heard that the stainless reacts with the alloy of the engines or something - probably after 30 years or so tho...
Oh n the plastic ones are easier to actually fit too - I have changed enough of em now to know!

Changed mine recently. Choice of 3 pairs on e-Bay at that time . Price range £45 to £60. Postage can be heavy. check they are not off Diesel (shorter) and have metal inserts in each end. Pushed a large screwdriver handle into rubber pipes and left them for an hour which makes getting them started over the plastic easier, perhaps I've got weak wrists :)
