AVO -70 springs, how low do they go?

Post by jonnyg »

Im looking at gettiong a set of -70 springs but not suyre how low they will actually take me...

Now before we start i know how lowering works, i should do shocks and the lower the rougher but unfortuantly im not loaded so cant afford a full set and i know what to expect from low vehicles as i have a habit of slamming stuff...

Anyway, the avo -70's, it says they are actually -40's and add on the std -30 you get with the camper/multivans from VW. I want to know just how low they take you,. pictures would be nice, as i wanna slam my van....

cheers

Jonny, I must admit your van fitted with a -70mm lowering kit will make it look ace once the front bump stops have been cut off and rear camber has been fully adjusted to suit (which may including elongating the outter adjustable slot on each trailing arm). :o :o

Then if 17inch + wheels are used you may experience the fronts fouling the wheel arch on bumpy roads/speed humps/car parks etc.... unless you are prepared for this and have the arches 'rolled' so the experience of 'fouling' is more of a Private affair, rather than a public one,,,,IYGMD.

Then once you get used to your fillings rattling ever single time you come across a cat's eye, ridge ,grid or change of surface, or change your driving style so that everyone thinks you are permenantley
pi$$ed,,,,in an effort to avoid anything that is going to make your dashboard bounce......

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,,

PS, I only dropped to -60 with 15" wheels and could not live with the bone jarring experience.......
One day you will find me,,
Driving in my Camper,
With a Surf and Paisley wrap on both sides....

I dont agree, mine feels fine on -70 avos, and i still have the standard shocks fo now. 8)

I did trim the front bumpstops by two lumps though.

I hope the pics help show what -70 gets you, Bare in mind my wheels have a stupid offset though.

^^^That doesnt look any diferent to OE to me, did you measure the ride hight before and after fitting the springs? I'm starting to think I might buy some new springs and chop straight away!

thats -50mm correct size wheels and tyres with correct offset. i called and checked with avo as i thought that mine did not look much like -50, i gave them the product code from the box and they confirmed they where right. do they look lower than the -70 :?:
