Door handles

Post by Molly Man »

Want to refurbish my external door handles in situ....will carefully mask seals and surrounding areas...but what black spray paint to use? One that is hard wearing and will resist the elements for some years, dries to a semi matt finish and could also be used for other black trim? Anyone done this? :D

Take them off ... it's so easy you'll spend longer masking up.

Satin black over grey primer is the standard approach I believe.

20 seconds to remove them, one retaining screw from the end....don't do them in situe.
As Ian says...grey primer and satin black paint.

haven't done mine yet but I just bought a tin of smooth hammerite today which I plan to use on bumpers, grill, handles, window pillars etc.

the black acrylic stuff from motor factors is pretty good, lots of thin coats and drying between, just mask the chrome lock bit otherwise it'll be black with chrome scratch marks pretty quick
