Wipers!

Post by Molly Man »

Checked van wipers yesterday and both were on their last legs and beginning to split, so having done a search and read all the previous posts about size! (yes it does matter!) ventured down to Wilkinsons where single wipers (excellent quality by the way) of all sizes are only £1.49 thought that 21" on the drivers side and 19" on other would be OK. Previous posts had hinted at the fact that some blades when fitted hit the screen rubber and suggestions were made that the wiper arms may not be standard. Mine are standard and the 19' blade did catch the rubber... not by much... and quickly cured with scissors! so not a disaster...more of a warning that it seems blades do vary slightly when clipped into the arm but at £1.49 you really could afford to buy the slightly smaller blade as well as a 'back up' and save it for emergencies. 21' was perfect and much more efficient than the 16" previously fitted on drivers side. Would recommend the upgrade...... :D

Just jumping on the back of this post - has anybody tried the retro fit flat wipers available from ebay? Worth the money or the usual pile of ebay..?

Sorry to slag 'em off but I started off with a set of Wilko wipers on my van and in all honesty I thought they were crap! The just didn't wipe cleanly no matter what I did with them so I went and bought some refils from Halfords for about a tenner which worked a treat and still worked out cheaper in the long run.

Be interested to see if the Wilko's ones have improved since ... ?
